Free From Major Label Restraints, New Jersey's Val Emmich Releases New Album

October 2006

After two years on Epic Records and nothing to show for his efforts but a re-released version of his debut album SLOW DOWN KID, Val Emmich begged successfully for the privilege to walk away from a multiple album deal and returned to the exact place where he started - writing music by himself for himself. In the fall of 2005, he moved into a house in Woodstock, New York and started working on new material. Armed only with an acoustic guitar and plenty of red wine, Emmich spent the next two weeks shaking off the weight of all expectations other than his own.

The result is SUNLIGHT SEARCHPARTY, a 14-track album Emmich will self-release on October 24. The package will include a one hour documentary DVD directed by Matt Schuman entitled "It's Only Your Life: The Making of Sunlight Searchparty," as well as a 16 page booklet designed entirely by Emmich himself. The album will be available for purchase on valemmich.com and myspace.com/valemmich via cdbaby.com. Downloads can be purchased on the aforementioned websites via Snocap.

Witness for yourself the artist that Dashboard Confessional, The Get Up Kids, Thrice, Butch Walker, American HI-FI, Gavin Degraw and Better than Ezra have all taken of the on the road with them and why Butch Walker, Kevin Griffin (Better Than Ezra), John Fields (producer Switchfoot, Soul Asylum) and John Hampson (Nine Days) have all chosen to co-write songs with Emmich.

OUTBURN says "It isn't often that an artist can capture the poppiness of such artists like the Foo Fighters and the Dave Matthews Band with the indie heart of Ben Kweller and Bright Eyes," of Emmich, who has won praise from fans and critics alike. There's a reason why Val Emmich was first and only unsigned artist to appear on MTV's TRL. It's time for you to hear why.
