CAPITOL RECORDS SIGNS NEW JERSEY'S WHAT ABOUT FRANK?

Capitol Records has won the major label bidding war over Red Bank, New Jersey’s What About Frank?. The genre-breaking band formed in 2004 and has since earned the adoration of fans and critics alike. With experimental rock songs that put a youthful twist on the sounds of the 60s and 70s, What About Frank? are set to lead a musical revolution that will capture audiences of all ages.

In late May, What About Frank? will head to Los Angeles to record a five-song EP, to be released this summer. Howard Willing (Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, Counting Crows) will lead the recording process, while Jerry Finn (Greenday, Blink 182, Goo Goo Dolls) will be mixing the record. The band members (Mark Melicia- vocals, Sam Bey-drums, Paul Ritchie-guitar, Dave Rosen-guitar, Nick Villapiano-bass) are nothing short of ecstatic. Now that they have not only been signed, but to a major label, Melicia says the band is looking forward to “Really, just the chance to succeed.”

Summer tour plans are being secured and may include a stint on the Van’s Warped Tour. However, What About Frank? are no strangers to major festivals. In addition to Warped, they’ve also taken the stage at The 2005 Great Bamboozle and the CMJ Music Marathon, and were invited to play SXSW ’06.
